Megan McIver, Chief of Staff, West Series at Lockton Companies, has been a member of AM&AA for nearly three years and in that time has served in several roles including Rocky Mountain Chapter Vice-Chair, National Membership Committee Member, National Chapters Committee member and most recently became the Rocky Mountain Chapter Chair.
When asked what drives her commitment to her craft and industry, Megan replied:
I have always been driven by impact – I take a lot of pride in partnering with clients to truly understand their challenges, risks, and goals so I can better align solutions to make them successful. There is nothing better then watching your clients succeed, and knowing you were a part of that journey.
What are some insights or at least one piece of advice you wish you would have known when you first started in the industry?
Every interaction is a reflection of your personal brand. Being intentional, present and consistent speaks louder than any sales pitch you have prepared. That is true no matter what stage you’re at in your career.
What is top of mind for you in your business right now?
Whether companies are pre transaction mode, post transaction mode or in the midst of a transaction, insurance and risk mitigation strategies remain a top priority for the executive team. Having a strategic partner who can help you understand your current risks, outline a strategy to mitigate those risks and advocate to the insurance market in an effort to transfer the financial burden of those risks to the insurance industry, is of high importance.
How has being a member of a trade association resulted in business growth for you?
Throughout my career, trade associations have provided not only an education component necessary for career advancement, but the chance to build a network of individuals who support me in my professional goals. Being a member of AM&AA has provided the opportunity to expand my network on a local and national level within the deal-making ecosystem. In the last two years, this has resulted in introductions to several prospective clients, the opportunity to moderate several high-profile events and strategic discussions around mutual prospects and joint pursuit strategies.
What legacy industry impact would you most desire to be known for?
Being a part of the process to re-launch the Rocky Mountain Chapter has been one of the most rewarding experiences. There is still work to be done, but being a part of the journey this far has been an honor. We’ve seen our members grow their networks, deals brought to the table and an overall momentum in our community that we are excited to continue in 2024. This has truly been a group effort which could not have been accomplished without the support of my fellow Advisory Board Members.
